The Carved Panel Folk Art of Joe Robles
Joe, a native of Palo Alto, Ca, started woodcarving in his late 60’s at the urging of his girlfriend, Tina. He ended up covering the outside of his camper and most of his home with these detailed cityscape scenes. I asked Joe once where he got his inspiration, had he taken photographs in Europe? “No,” he said, “I saw a picture in a book once and just went from there.” Freehand carving mostly on 12-inch wide salvaged redwood boards resulted in these amazing panels. I have several pieces of Joe’s work in lengths running from 12 inches to 12 feet and priced from $1,025 to $12,250. More photos and pieces available on request.
